Child Welfare

Epping Town FC's Club Welfare Officers are Claire Sprent and Lindsey Charles

Their role at the Club is to ensure all players have a safe and positive experience at the club.

They are available to be contacted if you wish to discuss anything relating to your child and their part in the Club.

It is also their responsibility to make sure all managers/coaches hold a current FA-issued DBS, have up to date first aid training, up to date safeguarding training and the relevant coaching qualification.

Together with the management committee, they ensure the club’s safeguarding procedures and policies are up to date and that all coaches, club officials and parents/carers adhere to them.

They are on the club management committee so will also be called upon, if necessary, to investigate any complaints alongside the other club committee members.

Ultimately, the goal, along with the committee and all the volunteers within the club, is to ensure that all the children and players involved with Epping Town FC enjoy their football and be the best they can be in a safe environment.

Epping Town FC advocate the FA Respect programme, which describes children's football as “a time for them to develop their technical, physical, tactical and social skills.” It is also a time when they learn to play together and work as a team and a time which, quite often, gives them the opportunity to make lifelong friends.

The FA's Respect Code of Conduct note the following:

• Remember that children play for FUN
• Applaud effort and good play as well as success
• Always respect the match officials’ decisions
• Remain outside the field of play and within the Designated Spectators’ Area (where provided)
• Let coaches do their job, don't confuse the players by telling them what to do
• Encourage the players to respect the opposition, referee and match officials
• Avoid criticising a player for making a mistake – mistakes are part of learning
• Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour.

"We very much look forward to seeing you, meeting you and speaking with as many of you as possible throughout, what will hopefully be, another successful season for the club"
